Friends step in to help Ampilitwatja
They left in protest over the apalling conditions in the community, and over the Intervention and the Barkly Shire's takeover of their community.
Earlier this year with help from supporters all around Australia they built a house in three days to illustrate the hopeless attempts by the NT and Australian Governments to build houses on Aboriginal communities.
The new house kindly donated by Australian Portable Camps and constructed by local with help from members of the CFMEU, the MUA and a dedicated and very hard-working bunch of supporters.
Richard Downs who led the walk-off came to the CLC meeting at Tennant Creek to talk more about the Intervention and the conditions at Ampiliwatja wheer sewage had been spilling on the ground for weeks before the Barkly Shire removed it.
