Supporting Aboriginal Jobs and Businesses

We help our constituents find and keep jobs and develop their own businesses in regional industries ranging from conservation and land management to tourism and pastoralism.

We are supporting them to apply for grants from the Aboriginals Benefit Account and advocate for a fair and sustainable and remote employment program to replace the Commonwealth’s punitive and discriminatory work-for the-dole scheme.

Our constituents are increasingly driving their own development by investing their collective income from land use agreements in job-creating projects and our rangers are taking on fee-for-service work on Aboriginal land and pastoral leases.

In 2020 we launched an economic participation unit to build on these initiatives and develop new activities. The unit has helped people and organisations to apply for economic stimulus funds from the Aboriginals Benefit Account. These funds are now fully allocated.
